as much as I would love for commander van poots to remain my lead blog entry, it seems important to note that Desmond Dekker, most notable for the songs "Israelites" and "007 (Shanty Town)," passed away this week at his home in London. Dekker was 63.
the rude boy icon is generally acknowledged as the first Jamaican artist to break into the US Top Ten pop charts with a Jamaican song ("Israelites").
