and that's not a bad thing.
you know, you can watch the conference basketball tournaments and Selection Sunday while in Queens. you can avoid the St. Patrick's Day Parade if you stay in Queens. you can get some transcribing done in Queens. you cannot (or at least could not this week) see the Mountain Goats(and I didn't) if you stay in Queens (they played Manhattan on Tuesday and Brooklyn on Wednesday). but that's about the only downside that I can see right now.
speaking of not leaving Queens, it's felt like Friday all day long. maybe it's the basketball (and basketball and basketball and basketball) all day long. or maybe it's the fact that the stock market is closed tomorrow. I don't know. I mean, really, how can it feel like Friday (or any other day) when I've traveled no further than my little Adidas could take me in the past six days?
in case you don't feel like leaving Queens (and are one of those strange Americans who do not appreciate college basketball), here's some free reading (and watching and listening): parts One and Two of Kaki King (on "Possibly 4th Street," see above) for the Village Voice and the full monty on the Mountain Goats for Philadelphia Weekly.
go Belmont!
